March Favourites 2017

Good Evening Munchkins!

Today I will be sharing with you my March Favourites! I know every single blogger since the beginning of time says this, but where has the time gone?! I feel like I’ve blinked and I’ve been fast-forwarded to March 2017, it’s just insane. This month has had highs and lows, including getting my prom dress and real friends proving who they really are. I think I’ve also definitely decided which college I’m going to, but I will only write a follow-up blog post on that once it’s definite (i.e. when I’m driving there for my first day!). Anyway, it’s only a month and a half until my first exam and I’m having a complete mental breakdown, but let’s continue on with the blog post!

The first thing I have been loving this month has been the Lancome La Base Paupieres Pro (basically a primer!) in 02 Beige Porcelaine. I received this on quite sad circumstances but this has magical powers I had not before experienced! This is really easy to work with – think the Maybelline 24hr Colour Tattoo’s but skin coloured – and helps to maintain my eye makeup for the entire day, no matter what I’m doing. I don’t think it’s waterproof, but I wouldn’t expect my powder eye shadows, which I apply on top, to be either. I just apply this with my finger and set with some powder and it’s all good to go. I haven’t noticed any extra help in blending because I’ve always applied powder onto my primer and my eye shadows seem to be pretty good in that respect anyway, but I’m sure it’s noticeable to some! It does, however, help to colour correct my eye lid and hide any veins which may have appeared, though they usually don’t, without appearing too thick or clumpy on my lid. This colour does appear to have some shimmers in, but once set with powder you really can’t notice it if you wanted to do a completely matte eye. It hasn’t disrupted my eyeliner yet, either, which is a massive thing to me! This is available from Boots, John Lewis and Debenhams, as well as some other department stores.

Another beauty thing I’ve been loving his month has been liquid eyeliner. Long-term readers will know my love for black winged liner (as just mentioned!), and it’s taken me forever to finally gain the confidence to use a liquid one! At the moment I’m just using this cheap one I got in a magazine goodness knows how long ago, but I am planning on getting the Collection one soon as it’s had great reviews and it looks fairly similar to the one I’ve been playing around with (let me know if that sounds like a good idea to you because it’s a whole new world for me!). It’s still a work in progress and I don’t have the full confidence to wear it everyday, but every so often I try it out just to build my skill and technique with it. It’s not as difficult as I initially thought, though that could be down to me using gel eyeliner very precisely for the past 7 months!

The third thing on my list for the month has been lip glosses. I have a bit of a love/hate relationship with lip glosses for a whole host of reasons, but this month I’ve really liked just popping one on for a day-to-day look, or out shopping, or for college meetings etc.. The one I’ve featured in the picture is Tanya Burr’s Aphrodite (which, I think, has sadly been discontinued) which is a shade I’ve reunited with this month; it’s a gorgeous subtle pink-y red that is perfect for a sunny Spring/Summer day. I just really like how easy they are to (literally) pop on and know that if some colour comes off it’s not too noticeable, meaning I don’t need to keep reapplying. They also don’t dry my lips out, which is something I’ve actually struggled with these past few months when using different lip products. They also feel lighter and more appropriate to the warmer weather, I don’t know why!

I’ve already featured this in an earlier blog post, but this month I read and fell in love with A Monster Calls by Patrick Ness. This was lent to me by my Aunt after she said ‘it’s a kids book, but a really bloody good kids book’! That was obviously enough for me to read it! I knew some background knowledge about this because the film came out around the end of last year and I’d seen the trailer on TV, but this book is the most emotional yet innocent thing to have ever been absorbed into my brain. I think it pulls at the heart strings even more because of the fact it’s written from such an innocent perspective of a 13-year-old boy. This story follows the main character, Connor, as he has to care for his Mum who has cancer (and we all know what will happen there). He meets The Monster (which still confuses me slightly, is he meant to be something metaphorical?) who helps him overcome a series of hurdles and yes, this will make you cry. It’s in third person, which I don’t usually lean towards, but oh-me oh-my is this a book which will manifest your life! Even if you just borrow it from the library, it needs to be read! This is available from WHSmith, Waterstones and most other book shops.

Another book my Aunt lent me and had to be included in my Favourites was The Girl On The Train by Paula Hawkins. I haven’t actually finished this because I read A Monster Calls first and this is a much thicker book to get through, but I am so hooked, more than I ever thought I would. Despite all the books I have read over the years, this is the first adult book I’ve ever read, so I was slightly anxious that I wouldn’t understand it or that it would go straight over my head, but I understand it and I’m feeling all the feels! This is a mystery/thriller (basically the complete opposite of the heart-wrenching book I’d read beforehand, though I haven’t actually got to the thriller bit yet!) and it contains multiple narratives, which I’m an absolute sucker for! I can’t tell you much about it because it’s so easy to give stuff away, but it’s about an alcoholic called Rachel (bodes well!) who gets the same train to work everyday and so see’s the same people doing their usual routine on those days, as well. And then all these things happen and people go missing and Rachel get’s involved and there’s ex-husbands and babies and you need to read this before I annoy everyone out there! As I say, I haven’t finished it yet, but I know it’s going to be a book that takes over my life! This is also available from WHSmith, Waterstone and most other book shops.

The final thing I have been loving this month is Snapchat. Once again, I’m the last on the bandwagon, but I have now joined in with that teenage trend of multiple filters and aimed posts! Just kidding, I don’t aim things just as a matter of principle! It has now become my most favoured app on my phone; I just find it so addictive and I need to check for new filters every day, just in case! I’ve actually found it’s also built my confidence in terms of taking photos of myself and choosing to share them with others – I’ve only got a few friends on there who I know and trust, whereas I sometimes feel my Instagram and Facebook are a bit of a free for all. Talking of Instagram, I’m seriously thinking about starting an account for this blog (ChummyR) on there but I will only do it when I have more time (i.e. when most/all of my exams are done in June) so that I can keep you updated on a daily basis and build more of a connection with you. I know uploading a blog post 3 times a week is a lot for some bloggers, but I always feel like I could build on it. So, yeah, just let me know what you think of that idea!

And there we have it! I hope you have enjoyed this blog post – I love writing Favourites blog posts, even if it does make me panic with my other deadlines that I fear are looming! Let me know what you like from this little selection if you have used or read anything mentioned, and what products have been some of your Favourites this month!

Thank you so much for reading and I’ll see you Sunday,

Rachel xx

February Favourites 2017

Good Evening Munchkins!

Today I will be sharing with you my February Favourites. I’ve collected a good selection of different bits and bobs that I am going to share with you and I think you will also love! I haven’t been able to make my usual list this month, though, because I’ve changed phones and everything’s just been a bit up in the air. Nonetheless, this is what I remember that I love! As you will soon see, this month has been the month of positive changes (finally!)!

The first thing I have been loving this month has been the L’Oreal True Match Le Blush in Sandalwood Pink. Those who have been reading my blog for a while will know that I don’t like a lot of blush because I have naturally rosy cheeks, so once I’ve got my foundation on I don’t want to reverse what that’s just done. This is a deep rosy powder shade that is super pigmented (so use in small doses) and gives a gorgeous, natural blush to the cheeks. It goes with a range of contour shades, highlighters and skin tones and I cannot fault it whatsoever. It also lasts all day long and can be used to dress a look up or for everyday wear, so is very versatile. I have been loving this, and considering I’ve used it every day for a good few weeks, there’s hardly a dent in the pan. I also feel a little bit fancier when wearing this because it’s the only L’Oreal product in my everyday collection! This is available from Boots and Superdrug.

Recently I wrote a blog post about getting my cartilage pierced (see that HERE) and, of course, it had to be mentioned in my Favourites! I am so in love with my new piercing and the pain has now significantly decreased, meaning I can sleep on that side again and not scream every time something is in a 3 metre radius of it! I love how it looks and I’m still treating it with the solution the piercer gave me three times a day, so hopefully no allergies develop like they did in my lobes. I’ve got my first ring that I’m dying to put in after the initial 8 week period and, better yet, no one at school’s picked up on it! I’m just obsessed and would recommend to anyone who wants it to get it done! I got my cartilage pierced at Claires.

One of the newest things I’ve been loving is my hair cut. I did initially just want the dead ends/split ends cut off and I asked my friend who’s a training hairdresser, but he cut off about 4 inches in the end! Obviously, I couldn’t see what he was doing as he was doing it but I did really like the end result! It’s just slightly longer than a bob, which is really on trend at the moment, and he also put layers in it. I’m just obsessed with it; as much as I loved my longer hair, it wasn’t healthy and it will grow back really quickly now. It’s so much more manageable and it only took me 5 minutes to dry when I washed it last night! It’s the shortest I’ve had it since being a child, but I really do wish I’d done it earlier!

Onto random favourites, I have been loving reading in the bath. This is something else I wish I’d tried earlier but I was so worried about damaging my beloved books, being as clumsy as I am! I just find it is one of the best ways for me to relax and de-stress, and it’s even calmed my anxiety to a certain extent. I just love to take half an hour out of my evening a few times a week to enjoy a nice warm bath with some bubbles in and fully immerse myself into the book. I think this is something for pure book lovers, but it’s literally my new favourite hobby! It literally takes me out of my day and any situation I may be in to enjoy my book, and that’s a feeling no one will ever take away from me!

And the book I have been loving to read in the bath has been All The Bright Places by Jennifer Niven. By the time this blog post has gone up, I should have finished it completely, but the massive plot twist that has happened has just broken my heart into a million pieces! I don’t think I’ve mentioned it before (sorry if I have) but it really is the most beautifully written book about such a sensitive, raw issue that I have ever read. It’s basically a love story between Violet, who’s sister has recently died, and Theo (who’s nicknamed Finch), who wants to die – to put it bluntly! They both unexpectedly meet at the top of their school bell tower which forms into an unlikely friendship, and we all know where it leads from there! I think there’s going to be a film of it soon, as well, so I’m just preparing myself for that! This is available from Waterstones, WHSmith, Ebay, Amazon and most other bookstores.

Finally, I’ve been watching and very much enjoying the new series of Celebs Go Dating on E4. I did try and watch the last series in the summer but it didn’t appeal to me too much, though this series really has me hooked! As I write, it’s literally on in the background and I think the celebrities on this series are just so funny and I actually know who they all are, which is a bonus! It’s something that’s really good to just have a bit of a laugh at and wind down to in the evening…or afternoon…or morning! I think it’s on every weeknight, but they’re all on catch up so I’ve just been massively binge-watching them! If you like a bit of reality TV with a lot of laughs, this is the one for you!

And there we have it! I hope you have enjoyed this blog post – I love writing Favourites, even if it does cause a slight existential crisis! Just to let you all know, my next blog post will be uploaded on Friday as opposed to Thursday, for reasons you will soon read. As of next week, though, the routine will continue as it has been. Don’t forget to let me know what you’re favourites have been this month or what items you also like from my little selection!

Thank you so much for reading and I’ll see you Friday,

Rachel xx

My Favourite Colours in Urban Decay Naked 2

Good Evening Munchkins!

After my blog post a couple of weeks ago All About the Urban Decay Naked 2 Palette (read HERE), I thought I would now go through all of my favourite colours from the palette. As I mentioned in the All About, it isn’t as neutral or wearable as the original Naked Palette, so there are a few less colours that I’ve been able to try and love but, nonetheless, I still have some gorgeous ones to share with you! This palette is available from Feel Unique.

Half Baked

I don’t think this is a surprise to long-term readers, but I had to include it! Half Baked is a stunning shimmery, copper shade which looks stunning as a wash of colour or part of an everyday smokey eye! If you would like to see this in an EOTD soon, just let me know and I will get to that for you because it is so beautiful when on! Most of you probably know why I love copper’s and bronze’s so much, but for those who have somehow missed out on it, the orange undertones really help to accentuate blue eyes because they’re complimentary colours. This means my eyes are left with a beautiful eye shadow and my natural eye colour is still accounted for!

This next shade is a little bit less ordinary, but it still looks amazing for day-to-day. This is a shimmery shell pink colour with some icy undertones to it which, again, look amazing for a wash of colour! I can’t pinpoint exactly what makes it so gorgeous, but it is quite peachy toned, I’d say, and is just such a lovely change from your usual daily eye makeup colours. I love to wear this for school if I feel like I want to do something a bit more exciting than just the usual neutral eye, and it also makes my blue eyes stand out for some reason I can’t explain (I’m sorry!).

The third shade I love is Snakebite, which is a shimmery (there’s a theme here, I promise this palette also has matte shades!) chocolate brown shade. This is a bit more on the darker, smokey eye side which I do love for the weekend or on night’s out as a little bit of a change. I personally love brown, shimmery smokey eyes because they’re not too dark and that means I can still wear eyeliner with it! I absolutely love how this looks on and think it could look beautiful for all different eye colours in a variety of looks.

This final shade is another neutral-ish one that I tend to wear for a wash of colour day-to-day. YDK is a similar type of shade as Chopper, but it’s a very pale, icy-toned brown which is much more wearable and glamorous than I’ve just made it sound! This is, again, highly shimmery (I’m sure you’re not surprised by now!) but is still natural-ish enough to wear for school. I’m sure it’s something to do with icy-toned eye shadows, but I have found that with this shade and Chopper it really makes my eyeliner stand out and appear much sharper than it usually does. This, therefore, ticks so many more boxes than I thought existed!

And there we have it! I hope you have enjoyed this blog post – I love testing out new products for you so let me know what more you would like to see on this blog! Also, if you have this palette, let me know what you think of it or what colours are you’re favourite/s from it. I do promise that there are matte shades in this palette, as well!

Thank you so much for reading and I’ll see you Sunday,

January Favourites 2017

Good Evening Munchkins!

Today marks the final day of the longest month of the year! This month started quite randomly in my friend’s garden and is ending with me sat in the exam hall all week – what a turn of events! January for me is just a month to get through because February is, of course, my birthday month and after that it becomes Spring and it gets ever-so-slightly warmer! Anyway, this hasn’t the prevented me from finding a fair few favourites for you, all of which I have loved and successfully helped me survive January!

My first favourite, of course, is the Morphe 35K palette. I was very lucky to receive this for Christmas and all of my makeup woes have been put to bed! This is the biggest palette I own and it’s literally going to last me forever, I’m so excited! This contains mainly neutral-ish colours with a variety of shimmery and matte shades, meaning it’s perfect for daytime or evening (or both, all at the same time!). All of these shades are so pigmented and creamy, and the lack of fallout I’ve had has been life changing! This is fairly inexpensive for what it is and contains as well, so I would highly recommend this to any makeup lover and every makeup artist should have one of these palettes in their kit! They blend so beautifully, they are honestly a dream to work with! I’ve used this nearly everyday in January and the colours I’ve lent towards most hardly have a dent in them – this is going to be loved forevermore and I cannot wait to get my hands on some more of their palettes! This is available from Beauty Bay.

Heading onto bath and body, I have been loving the Imperial Leather Comforting Marshmallow Soap (because I’m so fun at the grand age of 15!). I tend to use this for shaving and only started to because it was just in the shower being used by the rest of the family, but (from previous experience) I knew how good Imperial Leather soaps are. It felt like pay-day! This smells amazing, and I know I love every scent under the sun, but it’s really accessible to a lot of people; it’s not sickly sweet like some marshmallow products can be, it has some floral notes in there but it still contains a strong, long-lasting scent. I also struggle, like most people, with dry skin at this time of year but this soap doesn’t dry it out any further and it actually feels as if it’s moisturising them, making it perfect for shaving. It also lathers really nicely and makes you smell so good for quite a large amount of time. This is available from Boots, Superdrug and most supermarkets.

This will come as no surprise to a lot of people, but I have been loving my black Vans this month. Again, I was lucky enough to receive these for Christmas and I have been in them constantly. Despite the slightly embarrassing encounter in the shop where I had to size down to a UK 3.5 (there goes my final piece of dignity!), they do look amazing literally with anything! I could wear them with leggings, a dress or a playsuit and still look decent and not entirely like I live on Benefits Street! As I was saying to my Mum when I bought them, I did kind of want them for the label because I believe everyone should have a pair of Vans in their collection and they are stunning! They’re also the only pair of shoes I haven’t scuffed up/ruined in some way just yet, which is always a positive! They feel really nice and sturdy on my feet as well, something that I think is a necessity in a shoe! These are available from Vans.

I also have a few random favourites this month which have been dominating my life. The first one is eating disorder recovery Instagram pages, which is very long-winded but I think that’s the correct way to name them! I found these at the beginning of the month when I wasn’t feeling too confident with my body or size after all the Christmas weight I had put on and they have boosted my mental self esteem so much. I’ve been following one and I look forward to her posts everyday, and, despite not having had an eating disorder myself, I really do resonate with her in terms of the mental side of things and it’s been a huge comfort to me that I’m not the only one who thinks these kind of things. But yes, if you need a little mental boost or are going through an eating disorder yourself, you should check these pages out because they will seriously help you. I think most of them have the hashtag of #edrecovery or just #ed, you may have to look around but there are some great ones (‘ed’ standing for ‘eating disorder’).

Finally, I have been loving some actual new music this month! Who’d have thought it! The first song I fell in love with was Million Reasons by Lady Gaga. I used to be very anti-Lady Gaga during the Poker Face stage because I just thought she was a bit crazy, (and not for the right reasons) but now, since her more emotional music has come out, I really do enjoy her voice. I’m starting to teach myself to sing it because it is so beautiful and something I can actually relate to in a previous part of my life. I just think it’s stunning and would highly recommend everyone to listen to it!

I’ve also fallen in love with the American jazz singer Gregory Porter (who is still alive, it’s a miracle for me!). I first heard him singing live on a chat show and it was one of those moment where I was like ‘your soul and your music, just marry me now!’. Long-term readers will know how much I love me my jazz music so finding a current, up-and-coming singer has been a dream come true for me! I’m still waiting to find the one particular song that grabs me, but I love his cover of When You Wish Upon a Star. Loving those Disney vibes, as well! As I continue my quest of all the music he has every produced, I will let you know which songs will be my new all-time favourites!

And there we have it! I hope you have enjoyed this blog post – I can’t believe January is over already, next thing for me is turning 16, how crazy is that! Let me know what you think of any of my Favourites I have mentioned to you or what your Favourites for this month have been! Also, let me know if you want any more information on any of the items listed and I will try my best to give you all that you need!

Thank you so much for reading and I’ll see you Thursday,

Rachel xx

December Favourites 2016

Good Evening Munchkins!

Today I will be sharing with you my December Favourites for last month. I haven’t got too many to share with you this time around but I’m sure my January Favourites will be full of the products I received for Christmas! This is basically the documentation of what happens at the end of the year when it’s been 10 months since my birthday and I’m just holding out for Christmas! Anyway, I have one of nearly every subject so I will now press on for you.

The first thing I have been loving has been the Simple Kind To Skin Refreshing Facial Wash Gel. I didn’t use a face wash at all before purchasing this just because I didn’t see the need; I would take my makeup off with a micellar water then rinse with warm water whilst in the bath/shower. However, since adding this to my little skincare routine I have seriously noticed the difference! I don’t have particularly problem skin but it does feel so much smoother and just generally more clean after I’ve used this. I have combination skin and this definitely decreases the amount of oil build up I have in my T-zone, but can still continue to dry out the less oily regions of my face. This is fine because I do apply a moisturiser straight after I get out the shower but it does mean I only use this 2-3 times a week in fear of ruining my skin (which my friend did the other day through over-exfoliating; it was so hard not the laugh!)! Basically, I have been loving this for ensuring all my makeup is off seeing as I wear it nearly everyday! Also, everyone knows how much I love this brand by now! And, as it’s Simple, you can be assured it contains no nasties and is suited to sensitive skin as well as the other’s mentioned above. This is available from Boots, Superdrug and most supermarkets.

The second thing I have been loving has been this Collection Glam Crystals Dazzling Gel Liner in Glitz, also available from Boots and Superdrug. Before this and a little contour kit my friend bought me for Christmas (he has an absolute angel!), I hadn’t really experienced Collection in all it’s glory, but was dying to do so! That’s why when I received this I tried applying it during my school day with everyone looking at me as if I was a mentalist! This is basically a liquid eyeliner (despite saying it’s gel, trust me, it’s liquid!) made entirely of silver glitter, which has been perfect for this party season. Little plug, I actually included it in this HERE blog post! I am so in love with how this just brightens up a look and makes you immediately look 10 times better! I’m just worried about it drying up, but I’m sure I won’t let it with the amount of glitter I use!

Onto a fashion favourite, I have been living in these boots! These were super cheap on Wish and are basically an affordable version of Timberland’s, which wasn’t actually on my mind when buying them! Since *accidentally* introducing my Mum to the Wish app, it now only takes a couple of glasses of prosecco to convince her I definitely need that top or those boots! I like foreign, knock-off goods and there is no shame whatsoever! Fake it ’till you make it, that’s all I can say! These are plain black (couldn’t expect any less from me, really!) with matching black laces and some gorgeous white faux fur in them which have been keeping my tootsies warm all month! They go with everything and I know they were available in a variety of colours for such a good price! They also have a small platform-type heel which I love being all the way down here! Maybe one day I will be able to afford a pair of real Timberland’s but, for now, these boots are keeping me sufficiently warm and content!

Finally, I have been loving the song Humans by Rag’n’Bone Man. As I’ve mentioned previously, I’m not keen on ‘new’ music, as such, but good ballads, flawless vocals or powerful lyrics really do float my boat. I’m also really into heavy beats at the moment, which this song is kind of run by. I wish I had some kind of educated background knowledge for you, but I don’t, I just really enjoy the song! It has some deep jazz-y undertones within the singers voice which is obviously a massive tick for me! If you have somehow escaped hearing this song, go have a little listen to it HERE. It isn’t particularly romantic but it hits some kind of emotional note which I thought had been eradicated out of me!

And there we have it! I hope you have enjoyed this blog post – I’m sorry if it has ended quite quickly, my little Shih Tzu has decided to just fall asleep on my lap at this very moment in time! Let me know what you think of any of the products mentioned above if you have tried them or the things you have currently been loving!

Thank you so much for reading and I’ll see you Sunday,

Rachel xx

Best Beauty/Skincare of 2016

Good Afternoon Munchkins!

Long time, no see! Well, now that Christmas is over and we are all still *slightly* recovering from New Year, I thought I would share with you my favourite beauty/skincare bits throughout the year of 2016. Just as a little heads up, the next few blog posts will revolve around last year so if that’s not your thing, stick around because I still have some new content I am so excited to share with you in a week or so! Each year, I try to find new products or new techniques of doing things and I think 2016 was quite successful on that front, and this meant I was allowed to learn and develop as a budding makeup artist. Anyway, without any further ado, let’s get onto the actual blog post!

The first thing I’ve been loving has been cream concealers. I’m someone who doesn’t like to stray too far from their usual foundation/skin routine in fear of walking out of my house the exact shade of clementine I did not want to be. However, I have found a cream concealer which works wonders with my foundation, problem areas and skin tone! The particular one that has caught my eye has been the Rimmel Hide The Blemish Concealer in Ivory, available from Boots and Superdrug. I just find them so easy to blend and they can be used for literally anything, anywhere on the face! A lot of brands are now producing these and they come in such a wide range of shades there is almost definitely one for highlighting, contouring or just general concealing. I also find these much more skin-like as they can appear slightly dewy and they don’t appear as harsh on the skin as liquid concealers can sometimes do.

The second thing has been gel eyeliner. Before this, I used a black eye shadow to draw on my eyeliner but investing in one of these has been a life saver! I wear eyeliner every single day so I wouldn’t mind buying one of these knowing I will get my full worth out of it, as they can dry up pretty quickly. The one I use is the Rimmel Scandaleyes Gel Eyeliner in Black, also available from Boots and Superdrug. I find gel liners so much easier to use than liquid eyeliners (which I had my first experience with last night; it wasn’t as horrific as I anticipated) and they last all day on any formula of eye shadow, as well as being pigmented af! This one has become quite clumpy but I have been using it non-stop since August, so I don’t think I can complain too much. I’m looking at the Bobbi Brown one when I run out of this Rimmel one as I do think, despite the expense, I would get my full worth out of it – if you have tried it, please let me know what you think of it!

The next thing I have been loving has been the array of Sleek highlighters there are. Before this year, I wasn’t too fussed with highlighters; it looked nice but it wasn’t something I would always look forward to applying. Since becoming addicted to drag queens, however, it has been vital to my existence on earth! After watching a few of my all-time favourite YouTuber’s rave about the Sleek Solstice palette, I knew I had to have it for myself! Their palette’s are so affordable yet pigmented and the variety of colours actually entices me instead of scares me, which is a surprise to all of us! They are so shimmery and definitely not for the faint-hearted, but by the time I’ve walked down the high street everyone is blinded so there’s no one left to complain! This palette was only £10 which is £2.50 per highlighter you receive in it, which I find amazing for such a high quality product! I am so in love with them and have been perfect for this party season. This palette is available from Boots and Superdrug, as well.

In the Summer I very happily discovered Bomb Cosmetic’s soaps. I’d previously tried their bath bombs and wasn’t overly impressed but their soaps have created a completely different response from me! I received them as a gift from my Dad and Aunt when they went on holiday together and I have been so happy with the little selection they bought me! I don’t know their names but they bought me three and I’m on my final one so I’ve had a fair range to try! They smell so nice and do leave a subtle scent on the skin as well as being fairly affordable in comparison to other bath/body brands, such as Lush. It lathers really nicely and doesn’t dry out the skin, which some bar soaps can do. When I use these, I don’t feel as if I then have to moisturise because my skin feels so nice and hydrated! I know it sounds really sad including a bar of soap in a Favourites but I do genuinely love them and highly recommend them to anyone who wants a change from the usual bar soaps! I think nearly all, or at least most, of their products are vegan so all good things happening here!

Another brand I have been obsessing over this year has been Simple, in particular their moisturisers. Simple is a well-known brand to me and others in my age group so this would be the obvious skincare brand to head towards; it’s affordable, good quality and keeps my skin looking as it should (maybe even slows down ageing??). I also have a fair few existential thoughts on a daily basis so anything that will noticeably slow down my physical ageing is a good shout for me! I own two of their moisturisers, one to use in the morning before doing my makeup and one I apply at night which is a bit thicker to keep me hydrated. This has successfully helped combat my dry skin but hasn’t made my skin overly oily. If you are of a similar age to me (14-18) I highly recommend these moisturisers because it’s an easy way to start introducing skincare into your daily routine which you will thank yourself for in the future!

Onto a bit more beauty, I have been loving copper eye shadows this year. If you have been reading my blog for a while now, this will come as no surprise to you by now! I have blue eyes so the orange undertones in copper/bronze eye shadows really bring that out and I actually quite like my eyes, so I’m going to accentuate them a little bit more if possible! All the copper eye shadows I own are shimmery, as well, which is always a bonus! I think they’re quite on trend right now as well and can be used to dress up a look or a day-to-day wash of colour. I have got a couple of EOTD’s I will be uploading this month/next month that include copper so stay tuned for them!

My penultimate beauty trend has to be bold eyebrows. I like to take inspiration from a variety of people when it comes to my individual style so people such as Tanya Burr, Audrey Hepburn and Marilyn Monroe have really inspired me with this one. Also, I don’t have the time, patience or products to do the whole gradient thing you see on Instagram! I do apply less product at the front of my brows but other than that I’m not too specific. I feel like making them quite bold and fairly sharp helps frame my naturally round face and making them quite thick looks much more natural. I just love how it dresses the face a little bit more than little lines which are supposedly ‘eyebrows’.

My final beauty trend has to be powder contour products. I like to use the Maybelline Master Sculpt in Light/Medium for this, available from Boots and Superdrug. I love using these as you really do have full control on how much you apply, how blended it becomes and the drama it creates! If you apply this onto a section of your skin that has previously been set with powder, it is going to be so much easier to blend and so look much more neutral. I also use this to bronze around my forehead and I do genuinely love it as I don’t look too stone-baked but I look sufficiently more tanned! And if it becomes too harsh, I just use my usual setting powder to tame it a little bit more!

And there we have it! I hope you have enjoyed this blog post – it feels so good to be back typing and being completely anti-sociable once again! Let me know what you’re Best Of 2016 products have been or what you think of the little selection I have spoken to you about! I hope you have all had an amazing Christmas and New Year!

Thank you so much for reading and I’ll see you Tuesday,

My Favourite Christmas Songs 2016 | Blogmas

Good Evening Munchkins!

Today I will be chatting you through my current Favourite Christmas Songs of 2016. When growing up, my parents would always play those massive bumper CD’s with like 30 different Christmas songs on them and so I have always been surrounded by jingle bells and all the festive tunes we have become used to! However, as I’ve grown older I’ve been able to branch out and find my own Christmas songs which have become staples for me that must be played at least 7 times a day from November the 1st! They are also perfect for playing in the background just to lift the festive spirit slightly!

Pentatonix – Winter Wonderland

This is probably the least Christmassy song on the list but I love it nonetheless. I’m not a huge follower of the Pentatonix but as soon as I heard this song I fell in love! This is a mash-up of Winter Wonderland and Don’t Worry, Be Happy and also features Tori Kelly so contains some extreme vocals and has a little reggae/soul beat that I live for! Some mash-ups can be a bit awkward-ly done but this is so seamless and just works together so well. I love both of these songs so when they’re put together, they sound simply stunning!

Leona Lewis – One More Sleep

This second song is also less traditional but it does relate to Christmas in some way, I promise! Leona Lewis has been on my radar for like 10 years now and I’ve loved her from the X Factor days so anything she brings out has to be listened to on repeat until I love it and am bleeding the lyrics! This is a more romanticized song but I don’t mind – I can still dream! I also think people find it harder to accept new, original Christmas songs but she has done is so well with a really pop-y vibe and some flawless vocals, which we would expect from Miss Lewis. If you haven’t heard this, you need to – right now!

Kelly Clarkson – Underneath The Tree

Another new, original song by another effortlessly amazing female! This is, again, quite pop-y but does involve those jingle bells we see as a Christmas staple and her vocals literally send shivers down my spine! This is an upbeat one that you will for sure find me dancing around to in the shower! If you need a little pick-up or just want to find something that will immediately make you feel festive and cosy, this is the song for you!

The Pogues – Fairytale of New York

Finally, a complete classic! I don’t think I could go a year without this song, it is my ultimate favourite Christmas song. Although a little bit slower, it puts a little twist on what we expect from a Christmas song and so follows my ethic of ‘expect the unexpected’. I’m also a sucker for a duet! If I could find the right guy, I would love to sing this for myself because it has a little bit of Irish charm whilst still being 100% realistic but providing us with the happiness Christmas surrounds us in! If you haven’t heard this song, you must’ve been living under a rock; it is definitely worth a listen!

And there we have it! I hope you have enjoyed this blog post – I have loved chatting away to you guys, as per usual! Let me know what Christmas songs you love or what you think of this little selection I’ve provided for you! I can’t believe how close we finally are to the big day, I’m so excited!

Thank you so much for reading and I’ll see you tomorrow,
