Boxing Day Sales Haul: New Look, Boohoo, Dorothy Perkins

Good Evening Munchkins!

Today I will finally be sharing with you all the things I bought during the Boxing Day Sales. I don’t know about you, but I genuinely enjoy and look forward to the sales after Christmas; it is something I get myself out of bed for and we actually do it as a family, so it’s a nice little trip for us! This year I was very lucky and received some money and vouchers which I spent as soon as the sales came out! Anyway, I will try to remember prices but there are some that there is no way I will ever know!

The first place I went to was New Look. I think I’ve already thrown my receipt away but everything I bought came to £25 in total, as that was the voucher I had. The first thing I bought from there was this gorgeous khaki green choker neck top. I’ve already worn this for New Year’s Eve and it definitely caught people’s attention! Despite being long-sleeved, it is much more of a top as oppose to a jumper because it’s quite thin, but for a night out it does look stunning! It has a ribbed-like effect and a very low V-cut, which I personally like to show off my assets a little bit! I thought the choker would annoy me a bit because I’ve never worn one before but I think it’s one of those things you’ve just got to get used to.

The next thing I bought I’ve also already worn but it was the item I was most excited for! It’s this chestnut bardot top which is made out of a silk-like material, making it really shiny and quite easy to wipe things off of (which I need being the clumsy oaf I am!). I personally love the bardot style and this is something I could wear for everyday or dress up for the evening. It’s really lightweight and floaty, meaning it doesn’t matter what size I am or how much I’ve eaten, it will still fit and look really flattering. I also received a fair few compliments when I wore this out too, which always boosts the self-esteem slightly!

The penultimate thing I bought from New Look was this grey cross-cut style top with mid-length sleeves. It’s not ribbed like the first one but is the same kind of weight and thickness, so it’s not warm enough to be worn on it’s own at this time of year but it is still stunning, dressed up or down. I actually really like this style (though you can’t really see it, I’m sorry!) as I find it quite flattering but still very simple. It might make odd tan lines in the summer but I think it is more suited to these colder months! This and the khaki top are quite tight-fitted but if I was to tuck them into a skirt or high-rise jeans, I don’t mind too much!

The final item from New Look was another top (there’s a theme here!) which is, again, grey but with a black, lacy bardot detailing at the shoulders. This is a bit big for me and is much more of a jumper than a top but I do think this will mean I wear it much more for daytime. This is quite long, but I’m sure it can look amazing tucked into jeans and I’ve already planned to wear it slightly dressed up. This has a grey marl effect and is super soft but the lace just adds a little bit of style to it which dresses it up slightly. I really liked this and I’m sure it will be a timeless piece!

I then went onto Boohoo where a bit more money was spent! The first thing I bought (because I did need them, honestly!) was this pair of ribbed black leggings. You can’t really see the ribbed effect in the picture but they are just your average full-length leggings. These cost £6 and weren’t actually in the sale because I genuinely did need a new pair of leggings! I also bought the top in this picture which has a chequered red/black/white print. I thought it was just a nice little top I could wear for summer either with jeans/leggings or tucked into a skirt as it’s basically a cropped cami! It also includes a little bit of black (i.e. comfort zone) but introduces some colour, which I’ve been told I need! This is quite floaty and just hangs from the boobs but it is things like this that I live in during the summer! And for only £2, I couldn’t turn it down!

I then went ahead and purchased this gorgeous burgundy jumper. I don’t know if you can see it in the picture but it has slits in the sleeves, which is kind of a ‘cold shoulder’ effect, as the website told me! I really do like this and it is a thick-knitted material which I really like day-to-day though, again, I could quite easily dress it up (there’s another theme here!). I actually wore this to a college interview the other day because I do think it makes me look like a young sophisticated woman, when in actual fact the highlight of my life is getting a Chinese takeaway! It does have some black, woven inserts which, of course, I love and yeah, another staple piece that I think I will be getting my wear out of! This was only £8 and is quite short-cut, so is perfect for tiny little Rach!

The final two things I bought from Boohoo were playsuits that I literally want to die in, they are so beautiful! The first one is this black and grey chequered piece which would be perfect for January/February when you don’t know what to wear, but you know you want it to be nice! This is long-sleeved but still quite thin and finishes about mid-thigh on me. This is a bit out of my comfort zone before I’ve fully toned up again, but I think with my black vans and a pair of tights, it could look amazing for a meal out without looking too dressy. Like the very first top from New Look, this has a very low V-cut neckline and a slight off-the-shoulder type effect, though that might just be because I’m too small for it, and has a wrap-over thing which I think is very flattering should you want to present the assets in a much more sophisticated way than ‘here’s my tit’! It’s a super soft but stretchy material and, once I start toning up again, I’m super excited to get myself in this for an evening out! This was only £6.

The other playsuit I bought is much more suited to festivals and Spring/Summer, which I am hoping on doing this year (festivals that is, I think Spring/Summer goes without saying!). This is a rusty, peach-y toned playsuit with some black lace detailing at the neckline. This is a bit more difficult to get into because of the cold shoulder effect, but once it’s on it does look stunning! It has spaghetti straps at the shoulders and then much baggier sleeves going down to around the elbow which then cinch in. This is, again, mid-thigh but if I was to wear this for the warmer weather, I don’t mind that too much. I think this would be a bit too heavy for a holiday abroad (though for the evening it may be better) or August when it’s really hot but early Summer, I can see myself living in this. It is much less booby than the other playsuit, but it still allows a little cleavage to be shown. This cinches in at the waist much more noticeably, so I will need to lose a little bit more weight in order to feel 100% comfortable in it, but I am just so excited to wear this out! This retailed for £6, as well.

I then decided with some left over money that I wanted to buy myself a new bag specifically for when I start college in September. I figured now would be the best time as the sales are on and I actually have money so better earlier than later! Something that surprised me was I found this bag in Dorothy Perkins, literally the last place I looked! This is a really simple bag with a suede-effect flap over the rest of the bag which is magnetically shut. It doesn’t have a zip but it just means I would have to keep my phone in my pocket, which I do now so doesn’t bother me too much. It is, of course, black, so will go with everything and I love the difference of the materials used as it makes it look a little bit more alive! It has a long shoulder strap so I can just grab it and go, and is big enough to fit A4 files and papers in. It has a little bit of gold detailing at the magnet and where the straps join the bag, which, again, makes it seem a little bit more alive and less flat or 2D! This was in the sale for only £17 and they had another one but with a brown/fawn coloured suede flap instead of black, but I thought black would be much more practical!

And there we have it! I hope you have enjoyed this blog post – I love writing hauls and I’m so happy I’ve finally been able to write one after what feels like forever! Let me know what you bought in these Boxing Day Sales if anything or what you thought of things I purchased for myself!

Thank you so much for reading and I’ll see you Thursday,

Rachel xx

Boohoo Wishlist | November 2016

Good Evening Munchkins!

Today I will be uploading another little Wishlist for you, this time from Boohoo. I thought I hadn’t done one in a couple of months and I love writing these so would do one for you now. It’s also near enough winter now so I’m allowed to write another seasonal one! I will be writing a Christmas-themed one soon so this one is entirely for winter. I think I’ve spoken about Boohoo enough now for you guys to realise how much I love it and their clothes just, so you know I’m not showing you any old random bits for no reason. If I had the money, I would genuinely buy all of these things! All of these products were on the New In Clothing section at the time of writing (20/11/16).

Olivia Rib Knit Choker Swing Dress in Grey – £15

The first thing I’m loving from Boohoo is this little grey dress. I’m a bit funny with the choker trend – I’m not keen on the individual ones but they do sometimes look nice on dresses and tops and this is just one that stood out to me. I also like grey as an alternative to black (which this also comes in) and swing dresses are very me as they show off the nice bits but hide the not-so-nice bits. I love the neck line of this as it gives a little bit of booby showing but not too much and it’s just so simplistic but the choker just amplifies it so much more. It also has a rib-textured material which I quite like in winter as it’s quite warm and long-sleeves is always a bonus for me. Much love for this dress!

Abigail Utility Shacket – £20

Anyone who knows me knows I absolutely live in my denim jacket during spring/summer as a little chuck on when there’s a bit of a breeze over playsuits or tops and shorts or whatever. This is literally the exact same but in different colours and I’ve just fallen in love! This comes in a variety of colours (black, camel, grey, khaki, spice and nude) and the black and spice one, above, really stood out to me. This is quite price-y for what it is but it looks like a really nice quality jacket that I would wear a lot so I think I would earn it’s price when wearing it. It comes with the sleeves rolled down which is fine because I roll the sleeves on my denim jacket anyway to make it a bit more unique and it also comes with some little buttons which can be done up or left loose and shown as simple detailing (which is what I would do). It’s also over-sized which I love because I’m small anyway and it has a curved hem around the bum which I find flattering with my *slightly larger* thighs. I might actually spend any Christmas money on this if it’s still in stock – I’ve fallen in love!

Frey Long Sleeved Scallop Plunge Skater Dress in Berry – £18

Frey Long Sleeved Scallop Plunge Skater Dress alternative image

The third item I have found is this simple little long-sleeved skater dress in a warm, wine/berry-toned colour. I’m a sucker for a skater dress – I love how they fit me as they accentuate my small waist and big hips but hide my tummy and also suit me in terms of length and not being too long. I do love being warm, as well, so long-sleeves is the right way to go at this time of year! I’ve never seen this style of neckline before, either, and it really intrigued me but I thought it would be super complimentary. I’ve bought skater dresses from Boohoo before and they’re always of a high quality so £18 doesn’t break the bank too much. This is also available in a black and a teal.

Dottie Velvet Strappy Skater Dress in Berry – £18

Dottie Velvet Strappy Skater Dress alternative image

I think there may be a bit of a colour theme here! Like the choker trend, I’m a bit split on velvet; I think it can look nice if worn right but if it’s worn with the wrong things it can just look not that great and that is a genuine fear for me! This is not a warm dress, granted, but you could always wear a jacket over it and the main features would still be seen. This is also a little skater dress in berry – I just think berry looks really nice with my hair colour and around this time of year and the reflex of the velvet in the light can look stunning. I really like the little black insert at the top of the neckline because it means I still have that little bit of darkness in there! I also prefer to have black straps because then I can wear a black bra with it and my boobs not look all saggy! Well it can’t in a dress like that, can it? This is also available in a bottle green and black.

Boutique Ria All Over Sequin Cami Playsuit in Black  – £30

Boutique Ria All Over Sequin Cami Playsuit alternative image

Finally, this playsuit. This isn’t something I would usually go for but I thought I would still include it just to remember that, at some point, I had a tinge of confidence! This is of course in black (it’s also available in a camel shade) but it has that little bit of excitement with the sequins. I do love a playsuit in summer and I think this could be dressed up quite nicely for a party and be a kind of novelty outfit. It is quite a lot of money for a novelty outfit and I’m not sure how you would wash it safely without the sequins coming off but I would give it a good go! I also think it would be a perfect opportunity to wear a red, metallic lip on an night out!

And there we have it! I hope you have enjoyed this blog post – I love window shopping online in my spare time so I hope this has been of some use to you. Let me know what you like from this little selection or what you like from Boohoo at the moment! Also, don’t forget to let me know what you would like to see more of!

Thank you so much for reading and I’ll see you Thursday,

Rachel xx

Boohoo Wish List | September 2016

Good Evening Munchkins!

Today I would like to venture with you (sounds very exotic, doesn’t it?) into the world of online shopping, one of my most favourite things. In the summer I did a blog post like this but with New Look bits, so if you would like to read that you can click HERE. I personally love online window shopping and looking at new trends for the new season (now it’s officially autumn – lights, candles, action!). I’m sure I can’t be the only one so today I will just be showing you a few bits I found on Boohoo that I don’t quite have the money for right now but would love to purchase sometime in the future. All these products are from the New In section at the time of writing (24/09/16).

Aura Metallic Crepe Full Midi Skirt – £12

Aura Metallic Crepe Full Midi Skirt alternative image
Sorry for the tiny pictures!)

If you read my New Look blog post, you will know how much I love my midi skirts and this one excited me because, not only is it black, it also has little metallic shimmers in it! I wear black a lot and I feel like on nights out or for parties this will just jazz it up a little bit, but not so much that I’m wondering if people think I’ve just ‘pitched up from Mars’ (if you know what sketch comedy that’s from, 59 points to you!). Something I find with Boohoo is you (or I, it is normally just I) look at something then think ‘oh, that’ll look good if I was a size 6’, but I feel that midi skirts are so versatile and suit any size. Their sizes also suit me really nicely considering I’m the height of a Hobbit so I have trust in this, even if it isn’t in the Petite section. I also think it’s really good value for money! This is available in a sand/nude colour as well.

Gia Cold Shoulder Drape Shift Dress – £15

Gia Cold Shoulder Drape Shift Dress alternative image

Another find that my eyes fell in love with was this little shift dress that I just couldn’t resist! I have quite big boobs so sometimes shift dresses can hang out from there and make me look even bigger than I am, but they can also skimp my hips really nicely and just entirely cover my stomach, which I’m more than happy about! I also love the cold shoulder trend and have been dying to get my hands on a top or dress with that feature! If I ever want to change up from black, I will go for a grey (or ‘Dove’ as this is called), but there is a black and rusty colour also available in this dress. This is under the day dresses section but I would dress this up a little bit and wear it ‘out out’ – I think it would look perfect on a night out with a pair of black high heels! It just looks so comfortable as well (always a bonus!).

Petite Ellie Stripe Detail T-Shirt Dress – £12

Petite Ellie Stripe Detail T-Shirt Dress alternative image

I found something in Petite that I actually like! I love the baseball top style and have done for years now, so when I saw this I fell in love! I actually really like this kind of dark wine red on me and feel like I could wear it with tights and a red lip to make it look a little bit more sophisticated, but it looks so cosy and so chic for autumn/winter. I also love the so-over-sized-it’s-now-a-dress trend because I’m very short and it kind of emphasizes it in a good way. I just think it’s so cute and it looks warm as well. It’s one of the only 90’s trends I like so I’m taking it with me through everything! This is available in a black and grey also.

Cally Crushed Tonal Velvet Flippy Shorts – £5

Cally Crushed Tonal Velvet Flippy Shorts alternative image

Finally, the cutest pair of shorts I ever did see! I love shorts in the summer and this little velvet pair caught my eye for nights out when temperature doesn’t really affect me (or I decide it’s okay to suffer with hypothermia!)! I have quite big thighs so the ‘flippy’ style suits me and makes me feel comfortable and more confident in myself. I think for a night out (I’m clearly going on a lot of nights out!) with a little black top or bodysuit and a pair of heels, these could look gorgeous! I’m also the biggest fan of coral so obviously this had to be my colour of choice, though grey and black were available as well. I’m not too sure on velvet but it feels really nice and that’s enough for me to go by! So affordable, as well!

And there we have it! I’m sorry this is quite a short wishlist – my WiFi decided to just stop halfway through! I hope you enjoyed this blog post; I love writing these so let me know if you would like to see anymore and if so, from which shops. Let me know what trends you are loving at the moment or what pieces you would like for yourself!

Thank you so much for reading and I’ll see you soon,

Christmas Money Haul 2016: Claires, New Look & Boohoo

Good Evening Munchkins!

Today I have a haul for you which I haven’t done in the longest time so I’m just really excited! These are items I bought with money that I got for Christmas so most of the stuff I’m going to show you was in the sales (I’m sorry). Everything I’ve bought I truly love as I feel like if I’m spending other people’s money I shouldn’t waste it. This is mainly fashion related but there are some other bits and bobs I’m going to show you. I’m so excited to show you everything I’ve bought! This one may be a long one so do get yourself a hot beverage to enjoy whilst we recollect everything! Also, I have the worst memory so I’m not going to include any prices just so I don’t feel bad when I leave some out.

The first place I went was Claire’s as I had a voucher and vouchers are the reason I leave the house after Christmas, if I’m going to be honest! I’m nearly 15 (which is just weird and odd in all ways) so I do struggle to look for things in Claire’s I will use and make the most out of; my go to would be 20 million lip balms but I already have so many of them to use up as it is!

I’m sorry for the bluriness of this photo, I promise they’re not all like this!

The first thing I purchased from there was this canvas board that says ‘Enjoy the little things’ in blue glitter. They had a range of these and this one was my favourite out of the selection and let’s be honest, this looks so cool! I have this hung up on my wall so it brings a lot of colour to my white walls. Nothing like a glittery, motivational quote! Also, I thought it was funny because I’m small so enjoy this little bundle of 5 foot 1 goodness (though the other day I got measured and it said I was 5ft2 and a half inches. I don’t think so!)! I really like this and it’s hung on the wall at the end of my bed so when I wake up every morning it’s there to greet me! The canvas itself is fairly small (I don’t know measurements, I’m sorry!) so can fit into any space you may have. It also has a hook so can easily be placed onto a nail in the wall because everyone has loads of them lying around, clearly!

The second thing I bought from Claires was a Pineapple flavoured face mask. As I type I haven’t yet used it but I’m really excited to; I love tropical fruits as it reminds me of holidays (and sun and orange and all the good things I miss so much in life!). I don’t use face masks all the time as I do tend to forget I have them on and so don’t wash them off but I think I’m going to enjoy this one a lot! I don’t know how many benefits it has but I’m going to share this with my Mum because I chose this one with her and I know how much she likes pampering! Yay!

The second place I went was New Look but this was online so you’re probably more likely to get this stuff! Haha. I bought a *lot* from here so I’m going to try and categorise it but hey, it’s me! Also, there are a lot of crop tops and I did want to write a crop top look book with other one’s I already own in the Spring so let me know if you still want to see that. I probably will, but hey! And I look really fat in these photos, I’m sorry for burning your eyes!

I think I will actually start with the crop tops. The first I bought was this grey one with quite thick straps and a button-style feature at the front. I love this and I think I’ll get to much wear out of this one! The crop tops are really cheap at the moment in the sale at New Look so grab some whilst you can! If I’m going to be really honest, I wanted this because I knew that the circular neckline would really make certain curves stand out and make them look their best, so sorry for that! It is sleeveless so I am going to keep it for Spring/Summer but I could wear this with leggings, jeans, my black leather skirt, just everything! Even shorts, maybe, if I’m feeling really adventurous! This is one of my favourites! Also, because of the thick straps I don’t have to worry about a bra! Girl issues, seriously!

The next crop top I bought was this one here and it has an absolutely gorgeous pink and black floral pattern on! I look disgusting in this picture, I’m so sorry! I feel like this one is a little longer so could potentially be tucked into a very high-waisted skirt but I love it. Being ‘big-chested’ I may struggle with the bra strap issue as it has spaghetti straps but we’ll work around it, we’ll find a way! For this top, I will. I don’t know why I got so many crop tops; I just went on a splurge! Body confidence! I feel like the last one was very everyday whereas this one could be more dress-y perhaps because of the pattern. I did buy this for the pattern; it’s so stunning though it does look more black and white in the picture. It does show my cleavage off a bit too which I like.

The third crop top is this neon orange, ribbed textured one. These were everywhere last summer and so I thought I would jump on the band wagon. When taking these photos I was wearing a terrible bra, I’m sorry (I feel like all I’m doing is apologising!)! I did buy this just because it was orange and orange is my life; I’m not even kidding you! I don’t actually own that many orange items of clothing so I thought this one would just be perfect and it was so cheap as well! I could also pair this with black shorts in the summer or just leggings or whatever. I love it though! Oh, and all three of these crop tops were stretchy and ranged from a size 10-14 because when you love something you will shrink for it!

I did also buy a normal sized top and it was another orange one only this one is more of a lighter orange, more of a peach if you will. This is in a 12 but it’s HUGE! This is supposed to be baggy and it really is! This is just another everyday top with a small pocket (my hairs kind of hiding it but you can see the bottom of it) and it has mid-tops-of-the-arm’s length. I think I’m going to get a lot of wear out of this as well as you can wear it with shorts or leggings or jeans or just about anything! I love everyday tops, they’re so comfy and you can wear them anytime, anywhere. New Look is also really good quality and because it’s pretty plain this could last me years. It is very long though (it goes past my bum) so I do have to slightly raise it when wearing it so it doesn’t look like I’m wearing my Mum’s clothes (despite my Mum being smaller than me!)!

In everyday wear, I also bought this pair of leggings. Well, they were called leggings but they’re a bit thicker and sturdier than leggings so I’d call them trousers if we’re going to be fussy about it! I’ve wanted a pair of ‘leggings’ with a pattern on like this for literally years as it will go with any plain top or black/plain jumper so would be really handy. Other than this I literally own black jeans, black leggings and one pair of blue jeggings. I just wanted a bit of life and I think with something plain on top it can look really nice. Also, building that confidence up! Like leggings, it doesn’t have any kind of zip or anything, they’re just a pull-up kind of thing (which is a bonus in my books considering I forget about fliers a lot! My life is one massive awkward moment, I swear!).

Onto nightwear, I bought this blue and red, tartan patterned playsuit. I don’t own anything like this and I thought this would be perfect for summer. I realise a lot of this is for summer but it was so cheap I couldn’t resist it! Considering it was in the sale as well it’s really good quality! It has spaghetti straps and has a really thin, lightweight material so will be great for those hot Summer Nights (name that musical!). I just hope I’m not jinxing hot weather for 2016! Very looking forward to wearing this. Also, if I do go on a summer holiday this wear, it’s very small and easy to fold-up so won’t take up much room in my bag. I don’t know how I’m going to feel once this is uploaded and this picture is out there … oh well! Body Confidence Round 2!

I also bought myself a new dressing gown which I’m entirely in love with! This is very easily another of my favourites! My current one is pink with lighter pink hearts on from Monsoon in size 9-10 (years, might I add) and is still too big for me so I thought it was time for a new one! This one is in Medium and fits me perfectly. It’s not too long or too short and ties round comfortably. The best bit: ‘This girl loves sleep’ is written in black on the back and it just describes me perfectly! It’s more of a creamy white and is super soft and fluffy and I’m just in love with this dressing gown! I would literally sleep in this as well, it’s so cosy!

Onto socks. I love socks and they had an offer on which I had to take. The one’s with a penguin face on once you line them up were in the sale and were really good value for SOCKS with PENGUINS on (I could not want much more in life!) so of course into my basket it went! I also bought three other pairs which were in an offer for something like 3 for 2 or something like that, I’m not too sure. One is navy with red anchors on (I’m craving an anchor tattoo!), another is white with cartoon/superhero-style words on (like ‘Boom’, ‘Pow’, etc., we’re a very superhero based family!) and another with red tartan print (they were too cute!). I wear socks literally all the time and I have a weird obsession for them so it was a no brainer really!

The last thing I bought from New Look was this Top/Base Coat Nail Polish. You know when you’ve got that odd £3 or so left and you don’t know what to get because you’ve already bought 4 pairs of socks and 3 crop tops so you turn to the Beauty section for much needed help! I didn’t want to buy just any old nail polish because I don’t paint my nails very often and I didn’t want it to go to waste so I bought a pretty basic Top/Base Coat one as I don’t actually own one. This may help longevity and taking it off so I will get back to you for that. This was also the one thing I bought that wasn’t in the sale.

The final place I went was Boohoo. I had just ordered from New Look but the dress I’d ordered went out of stock before it could get sent to my house so I turned to Boohoo for my retail therapy! I don’t have too much from Boohoo but I genuinely love that website and their stock lasts so long, so yes I will be linking what I bought, you lucky people! I knew I wanted a winter dress (as that is what I ordered from New Look and had set my heart on) and soon I came across this dress:

Oh buddy! This is a bottle-green, long-sleeved swing dress and words cannot describe the love I feel for it! I might even wear it for my birthday with black tights and black heels! This is more evening than the dress I’d seen on New Look but I’m very OK with that. It has a slightly thin material but it is warm and very soft and my life is now complete! I love this colour for winter; I feel it really compliments me and I know come December I will wear this a lot for Christmas! Talking about Christmas again already, oh dear! This came in a range of colours and was also very affordable. I’m sometimes unsure of swing dresses because they can either be really flattering (especially for curvier girls) or hang off your boobs and make you look like you’re expecting triplets but this one has ticked all my boxes and I’m very happy about it!

And there we have it! The world’s biggest haul done! Let me know what you bought with your Christmas money if you did get some, or instead what presents you did get and are currently loving. I hope you have enjoyed this blog post as much as I have!

Thank you so much for reading and I’ll see you soon,

Rachel xx

What I Wore To One Direction ’14

Good morning Munchkins! It feels so long since I last uploaded but for those that don’t know I’ll do a quick what happened.

I uploaded on Saturday as per usual and explained I wouldn’t be uploading Sunday. That’s because I went up to Wembley Stadium to go see One Direction live. Oh my God, words cannot describe. Both 5 Seconds of Summer (they were supporting) and One Direction were amazing. It was my birthday present and probably the best one I have ever received!! I would seriously recommend it to any fan, they are just perfect. I know your all going to be like, ‘Oh, but they took drugs’ everyone makes mistakes and it’s not like they were saying ‘Put your joints in the air’ it was the flash on our phones. Just saying. I am not trying to make people feel bad, but this blog post is what I wore and where I got it from sort of thing like the Joey Essex Meet and Greet all the way back in January. It still doesn’t feel real that I’ve seen them, it’s so strange just thinking about it.

First thing, I wore a dress from Boohoo which I bought with my birthday money and is one of the nicest dresses I think I own. Not many people were wearing dresses, but I liked it, so you know. It was £20 but it feels nice like the material is just really nice to touch as weird as it sounds. It’s coral which looks weird at the moment with my pale skin, but once I get a tan it should look better. As always I’ll leave all the links below, but Boohoo is probably one of my favourite online clothes shops to be honest. I know the picture isn’t amazing because it’s strapless and I couldn’t find a hanger that would make it look any better, but yeah. Coral, Boohoo, strapless, perfect!

When we first left I was wearing these Converses because although not the best with the dress I was travelling quite a bit before and after and didn’t want to be a cripple by the end of the night. These are just copies from Sports Direct I think though you can get them anywhere. I wear Converses all the time, they are just so comfortable and seem to go with everything. They are plain black because black goes with everything and as you will see in a minute everything else was black. As always, I wore my little black ankle socks because they are just a need in life to be honest.

Don’t worry, these are the shoes I actually wore when I was there. I am only 5 foot tall so I needed them to see as well as beauty! I was standing and in the middle so they were kind of needed seeing as everyone else there was like 6 foot tall. These are from New Look I think and were a Christmas present a couple of years ago so they do last a long time.

The last thing I have a picture for is the bag. I love bags, especially this one. Chummy C bought this for me for my birthday and it’s just a plain, black, leather-feel bag from New Look. It held everything we needed and was perfect for this kind of thing. They were really popular last year and this year it’s satchels, but for festivals or concerts I will always have one!

For my makeup I only wore natural because we were in a rush and wanted to be like ‘Natural Beauty’ type even though that probably failed from the word go. My hair, going for the ‘Natural Beauty’ theme, was a high ponytail which I always like doing because it shows the curls in my hair really nicely but gets the hair out of your face. It was a really hot day, so all of these did go with the weather, I wasn’t freezing. I wore the One Direction perfume Our Moment as well, just for the extra fangirling moments!

It was the Sunday so I didn’t go into school Monday but I got home at 2am so I was way too tired to do anything. And in case you want to know, my favourite songs are Happily, Strong, Something Great and Better Than Words. I know, how predictable!

If you would like to see more of these I would love to do them again so just let me know. This afternoon I’m going to go see Dirty Dancing at a theatre not far from me so I could do that for you if you want but tomorrow I’m doing a Father’s Day theme as that is when it is in the UK.

Thank you for reading and I’ll see you soon,

Rachel xx

How to Wear High Heels

Good afternoon, Munchkins! Today’s blog as you can probably tell is going to be quite a girly one, so sorry about that if it doesn’t really affect you in any way.

I got my first pair of high heels when I was about 7 or 8 but they were like an inch or two and I loved them so much. They were Bratz, pink and glittery, every girls dream really. I eventually grew out of them after realising at a slightly awkward wedding where I ended up walking around bare foot. The next time I got high heels was when I was 11 for Christmas and they’re black boots with zips from New Look. I still wear them and will always be my first choice. I have another pair that are like cream sandal type but I don’t wear them so much, from Shoe Zone.

Obviously for some that will seem really early and for other’s really late, but everyone will get their pair of heels one day. This is kind of like a step by step guide of how to wear them and the key points to wearing them.

Step 1 – It’s going to hurt

Like any new pair of shoes you’re going to break in, it’s going to get time for your feet to get used to it. Clearly your feet aren’t designed to be lifted in that sort of way and it’s not humanly natural. Believe me, it’ll take time to get used to standing on the balls of your feet but it will work. I got them Christmas 2012 and by March 2013 (my Nan’s funeral) I wore them from about 8 in the morning until 9 at night.

Step 2 – Practice walking in them

As you can tell from the above step it needs practice like anything. Even just walking up and down your living room will do as long as your feet get used to it. You don’t really want to go on a night out them have to be carried home. I wouldn’t do it continuously in saying that because it could cause something to happen to the bones or muscles in your feet, but I reckon at least 2 hours a week for those who really want to get into it quickly. And also, don’t be surprised if you don’t wear them for a while then when you wear them for a long time it for it to hurt. It’s like if you do stretches, then stop, then try it again. It takes effort!

Step 3 – Start small and work your way up

The heels I have at the moment are both around 3 inches and my first ever pair were so small I didn’t really need any practice, but 6 inch high heels scare me. I’m 5 foot tall, so jumping 6 inches is like flying a plane for the first time, not going to go well! Hopefully in a few years I’ll build the confidence to slowly go up to 5 foot 6, but at the moment I’m not so sure!

Step 4 – Don’t jump too far if you’re not ready for it

This kind of links to step 3 again, just in the fact don’t feel like you have to wear heels. If you are already tall or just don’t feel like you’re ready then nobody’s saying you have to. There are always nice flats going around, and they’re always a lot cheaper! Also, if you’re short and young like me and want really nice high heels but they’re really high just try and find a cheaper copy somewhere else. If it’s a trend it’s going to be everywhere, let’s be honest.

Step 5 – When you’re young only wear them for special occasions

This is in no way an order like anything else, just purely a piece of advice. I’m 13 and have been wearing high heels since I was 11 and only wear them for special events. If you are in your 20’s then go for it, wear them everyday if you want to. I just think that my feet are still growing and I have small feet anyway and they probably won’t get much bigger, but they might do something to the bones or muscles or something and I want nice feet when I’m old. The ability to walk is something I’ll always want, thank you!

If you have any worries or questions about this topic then write it in the comments below and I’ll be sure to get to it and answer as soon as I can and as best as I can. If you have any other worries or suggestions and don’t particularly want to share them, then please email me (links are below).

Also, I just want to explain some stuff quickly. This week is Half-Term (que mini celebration) so I have a week off, but from Thursday to Sunday of next week I will be on holiday. As you know, when I’m on a school holiday I try to upload everyday for you, but I will only be able to upload Monday-Wednesday which annoys me. Of course, I will take my netbook and might to ‘Vlogs in a Blog’ (see what I did there) on Word then upload them during the week, but we’ll see.

Lastly, my lovely cousin Tyler has started a YouTube account and it would be really great if you could check him out. Of course, the links are below, but if you’re as un-technical as I am, his username is TylerTalksTooMuch (now you know how we’re related!). He started doing videos on Tuesday and plans to upload everyday. Please give him loads of support as I know you do with me. Obviously, after this I will let him know I have said this, but he’s a young YouTuber and he would love to get really big because he loves doing it.

I think that’s everything I had to say, so I’ll see you soon and thank you for reading,

Rachel xx

Big Haul: New Look, Boots, Waterstones, Boohoo, River Island

Good afternoon, Munchkins. It’s Saturday so yes, this week, I’m on time! Just so you know I hate letting you down because I know how much I can go on and you till decide to spend your time reading these which probably only keeps me from dying of boredom. And I’m also going to upload a blog tomorrow, and it’s going to be like a help and advice one which is also really close to my heart so, yeah. You’ll have to wait until tomorrow to find out though!

Today I’m going to do a haul of the things that I bought with my birthday money and a few things I picked up whilst I was out today. There’s quite a lot to get through, so yeah, let’s go!

This is the first thing I got for the Summer and I got it just before my birthday with money I had saved up. It’s from River Island and it’s just a turquoise skater skirt with a silver belt. Sorry about the rubbish picture of the belt, but I’d taken it off and put it somewhere else in my wardrobe. Strange, I know, but it’s me and it’s how I like to do things! Yeah, so, it’s just got buttons up the middle which you can undo to get it on, but of course I don’t have to *cough cough*. It’s also got a button on the inside to help you get in as it is not very elasticated so it could be quite tight. As you can probably tell from the *cough cough* sequence, I’m bigger than most girls my age. For those that are interested I’m a size 14 in most things, but I got this in a 12 so it would be shorter as most size 14 things like skater skirts are longer than say a size 8. I’m going to do a blog post soon on how to wear certain things like this if you’re a little ‘cuddly’. This was £10 in the sale.

This is the second thing from River Island and it’s a grey crop top with rolled sleeves and it’s got WILD written on it in silver and gold beads. I tried it on the other day and it was so soft, it’s was so nice. These are the only things I own from River Island, so so far so good. This was also £10 in the sale. Sorry if these things are no longer there, but I have mentioned that they were in the sale. Don’t shoot the messenger.

If you remember rightly, for my birthday I got a £25 gift voucher for New Look and this is the first thing I bought. I got another white bandeau top with this one but I’m wearing it as we speak, so the photograph was not going to happen with both, I’m afraid! For the pack of 2 it was £4.99 which I think is quite good because you can wear them on their own with a pair of shorts if you’re slim enough or under a top as I am now. It’s stretchy, which is nice but you know it’s not just going to fall, which is also a good thing. In the middle, as you can probably tell, it’s sinched in a bit. I think that’s the word, but it’s like that! I think it’s to make your boobs look bigger or something, but I’m not sure. It’s like that anyway. Please tell me the correct spelling because there’s a red squiggly line underneath it. Thanks! New Look usually have these in stock all the time, so you should be able to get these.

The second thing I got from New Look is this maxi skirt. I’ve seen people of a range of different sizes wearing these, so I thought I’d give it a go, and oh my God, do I love it. Apart from this weekend it hasn’t been warm enough to wear it, even though I’m not wearing it now either. Got slightly strange there! I was so excited when I ordered this, and yeah, why not? It’s black but got like red and pink-ish flowers on it and a belt which is a really thick black one and reminds me of when I went to Ireland 3 years ago. I’m not sure why, but I can imagine a lovely Irish Summer’s day and just wearing it, lovely! This was from the Petite section, as I’m smaller than the average person (see why you’re my Munchkins? Could be worse, you could be my Oompa-Loompas!). I knew that if I got it from the Main Range I’d be swimming in it, and I seriously wouldn’t want it any longer! This was the last thing I got from New Look and was £19.99, or £20 for those, who like me, like to spend an extra penny!

This is a dress. But not just any dress. The most gorgeous dress you ever did see! This was from Boohoo.com which I’ll link at the end as with everything else and was £20, but my God, was it £20 well spent! Do you remember a couple of weeks ago I told you about the bucket list for S/S that myself and Chummy C did? One of them was for me to wear clothes I wouldn’t usually go for and as I had the birthday money and I’d had my eye on it for a while, why not? There’s a theme going on here! It’s just your coral bandeau dress, but when I wear it, I feel so pretty and I just love it. I’ve got my Aunt’s and Cousin’s birthday lunches soon, so I think with a nice pair of heels, we should be fine! Also with my birthday money I bought two books from Amazon but they haven’t turned up yet. I ordered Bridget Jones Diary and The Perks of Being a Wallflower. Everyone’s like, oh it’s a proper teenage book, and I’m a teenager now, so yeah. I’m gonna read them, as soon as they get here!

Onto today’s shopping. Oh dear, we did some damage! We also went to Next and Tesco and bought some olives from this really nice Italian guy, but this is the main part of me! Apart from Sports Direct, it was for my Mum and brother today, although they sell really nice clothes quite cheap. Know’s a bargain, I do!

First of all we went to Boots where the first thing we got was some deodorant for yours truly as I’m running low. I don’t know why I’m sharing this with you, but anyway! I was drawn to it by the pink and the £1 price tag it owned. The one I have now is blue but it’s Sure as well, so it’s good! Just a little story for you, I use roll-on deodorant because one time I used spray, missed my armpit completely and went straight into my eye. Lovely.

Next was Batiste Dry Shampoo. In a couple of weeks, I’m going up to my Aunt’s for the weekend, and I probably won’t have time to do my hair in the morning/evening, so I thought it would be handy. I’ve heard loads of stuff about how Batiste when it drys leaves white bits in your hair, I’ll pick them out, and as long as my hair isn’t disgusting, I’ll go for it. This was the smallest bottle they had as it’s just like a tester one, and it was £1.49. It smells amazing as well and the flavour is Coconut and Tropical, like Pina Colada. The really big ones were like £4/£5 but if it last you a long time and you use it all the time, go ahead! My Mum also got some gum and some Wrinkle Cream. If she reads this, she is going to kill me!

Books. I love reading unlike a lot of people I know, and these two books in particular have been recommended to me so much, and I’ve been wanting to read them for ages, so yeah. We went to Waterstones mainly for my brother who got a World Book Day voucher and wanted to spend it, and then I told my Mum about what my history teacher said about the World Wars, and The Boy in Striped Pyjamas etc. I initially was just going to get Anne Frank’s Diary, but the lady found it and my Mum couldn’t refuse! The World Wars has always been my favorite piece of history if that doesn’t sound weird, so I’m happy. Yes, I know there are films, but I’m going to read the book then watch the film even though I’m halfway through The Boy in Striped Pyjamas on Netflix. Both were £6.99 each.

Well, this is the last thing we bought when we were in Tesco and it’s Joey Essex Hairspray. I’ve been wanting this for ages, so I’ve been happy all day, as you can tell! This is the Extreme Hold HairSpray and it was the biggest can there for £2.24. There was a Shimmer Spray which was like 50p more but half the size, and I might look like Edward Cullen in the sun if I put too much of that on, let’s be honest! I have high hopes, for you Joey Essex Extreme Hold HairSpray. Oh yes, talking to my hairspray, weird much?

So that’s all I picked up during the last month or so. I’m not a spoiled child, I come from a Working Class family and this time last week we literally had no money, but then my Mum got her money from work in, so we’re doing OK again. I’m in no way showing off, I just thought you’d like to know what I tend to use/wear or what I will use/wear come Summer. Sorry if this blog wasn’t really for you, but I’ve got another coming up tomorrow, which if you don’t like this one you might like.

Thank you for reading, love you loads,

Rachel xx
