MOTD: Easter Sunday/Spring Champagne Eye & Pink Lip

Good Afternoon Munchkins!

Today I will be showing you the makeup I wore last Sunday as it was Easter Sunday (surprisingly enough) and I tried out a new palette I had received. Neither I or my family are particularly religious but we did go out for lunch and obviously I had to dress up all nicely for the occasion! I didn’t really know what I wanted or what I was getting until I had completed it but I knew I wanted something bright and spring-like but also really classy. I did wear a kind of winter-y dress because it’s England and the weather was constantly changing so I did have to also adapt to that and I think it worked! I loved my outfit and my makeup and I can’t wait to share it with you!

The products I used for this look were:

  • Rimmel Scandeleyes Eye Shadow Stick in 002 Bulletproof Beige – available from Boots and Superdrug (see review HERE)
  • Makeup Revolution 32 Palette in Flawless Mattes, L-R: Rust, Rosewood, Earth – available from Superdrug
  • Rimmel Lasting Finish Lipstick in 086 Sugar Plum – available from Boots and Superdrug (see review HERE)

As you can tell, I really wanted to try out my new palette and tried to incorporate as many colours as possible! I’ve been addicted to Instagram makeup videos recently and they always start with light-ish peach-y colours in the crease and makes everything look amazing once it’s finished so of course I had to try it!

The first thing I did was applied Bulletproof Beige straight from the crayon over the inner two thirds of my eye (basically from inner corner to the beginning of the outer third. That probably didn’t help either!). This is packed quite a lot with shimmer so for a slightly shimmer look, if will need blending slightly with your finger just to remove some of the excess glitter.

I then took a small, dense blending brush and applied Rust all through my crease. I was quite untidy with this so that once I’d applied the other colours it was still obvious that it was there and created further definition. I didn’t go right up into the brow bone but it was a controlled mess, if you will.

I next took a little bit of Rosewood to further the definition, using the same brush. I kept this a lot more controlled so it was definitely in the crease and made it look darker than what it already was. If this ever looked too dark I would take a fluffy brush and blend out the edges and not make it look too harsh. I didn’t need to reapply as I got the amount of definition I wanted straight away (this palette is actually quite pigmented!).

Taking a small, flat-headed eye shadow brush, I applied Earth on the outer third of my eye (the remaining part). This did look a bit harsh in the beginning so the trick to using this eye shadow was to blend it all together then reapply and repeat. This was for a lunch with the family so I didn’t want it really heavy and smokey, though this colour would be perfect for that (future reference there!). This can be blended down to create a day-ish look though, which is what I was going for.

I then applied my usual winged eyeliner using Crave from my Urban Decay Naked Basics Palette. As I said, I didn’t want anything too smokey or too drag queen so I went for a small wing. I’ve been going for small wings at the moment as it’s a lot easier and safer if you’re in a rush (basically me everyday!). I am waiting to bring out the big wings soon though, just need to find the right time and makeup.

For my lips I just applied my beloved Sugar Plum straight from the bullet. I feel like this colour tied the whole look together and I love how this compliments my hair and skin tone. This is very spring-y and I will be uploading a spring lip product blog post sometime soon so I will tell you more about that then. I love this colour so much and I felt it made my lower lip look fuller, which I also love!

And there we have it! I had a really nice day and I hope you did too in whatever way you spent it. I actually really looked forward to Easter this year, I have no idea why! If you did your makeup special for the Easter occasion, let me know how in the comments or what you’ve been loving wearing on your face recently!

Thank you so much for reading and I’ll see you soon,

Rachel xx
