Don’t Give Up

Good Afternoon Munchkins. Sorry it’s late today and sorry if it’s unexpected but it is Easter holidays so I said to you lot I was going to upload a bit more often. The weather has been so nice today so I’ve been dropping round Easter Eggs, meeting up with friends and also I went to a makeup lesson which was really fun. If you want me to write about that just let me know and I’ll get on it.

OK, sorry for that tangent, that had nothing to do with today. Last blog I wrote about ‘How To Reach Your Goals in Life’ which got a bit deep and this one probably will too. If you haven’t seen it yet go have a look at it.

Not giving up has been something for the past probably year I’ve lived by. In that time I have suffered from depression, self-harmed and just really felt no need for my existence. Literally a few weeks after I started getting better I noticed a lot of other people being depressed or feeling really negative about themselves. Maybe it was because I wasn’t just thinking negative thoughts about myself and I could have a look around and see what was actually happening, but anyway, it became more apparent. That’s when I felt really bad because I bothered to look for the light at the end of the tunnel and some people are still stuck in that dark hole. This is when I became a bit more kind and helpful towards other people which was a huge change to the snappy horrible person I used to be.

Choosing to give up is a sign of depression to me because I believe every human being born onto this earth is given a chance in the world, no matter how rich or poor you are, you are given a choice and its what you decide to choose that makes you unique to everyone else. My honest advice to you is to not let something like a mental illness take you down and keep you there until you think you can’t handle it anymore.

If you feel you want to just give up then these are my top tips:

– Go out with friends/meet up with friends more.

– Only write the things you hate about yourself on paper then set it alight (be careful) or dispose of it in a way you will never be able to get it back again.

– Only think happy thoughts about yourself.

– Keep yourself busy.

– Join clubs or social things to meet new people and become more confident.

– Don’t listen to anyone that puts you down. They’re not worth it.

Hopefully those points will help you.

Giving up is just not the way to do it. Maybe now you think there’s no real point but honestly in 10 years or maybe less you’ll look back and think, ‘Oh, if I had gone through with it, then maybe I wouldn’t have met the love of my life, got an amazing family, got an amazing job etc’. I think experience teaches you so much but there’s a difference between experience and just down right hate for yourself. If you feel it is getting completely out of hand please talk to somebody. It can be someone at Childline (links are below) or just a trusted teacher. You are so much better than you think and giving up is the wrong way to go about things.

OK, so I hope I’ve helped some of you at least. If this stops 1 person from giving up then I’m happy that I’ve affected your life for the better. My links are down below as well as some others and I know this got deep but if it’s got through to you or educated you in some way then I’ve done my job.

Thank you for reading and I’ll see you soon,

Rachel xx
